Winter Storm Warning issued for Clarendon County

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Clarendon County and surrounding areas from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning, according to Clarendon County Emergency Management.

The warning, issued at 12:16 p.m. Tuesday, forecasts snowfall beginning late Tuesday afternoon. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are expected, with locally higher amounts possible. The advisory extends to portions of east-central Georgia and central South Carolina, including McDuffie, Columbia, Richmond, Burke, Aiken, Barnwell, Calhoun, Bamberg, and Orangeburg counties.

The snow is expected to start around 4 p.m. Tuesday and continue through 9 a.m. Wednesday. Road conditions, particularly on bridges and overpasses, are likely to become slick and hazardous, impacting both the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes.

Residents are urged to exercise caution if travel is necessary. Emergency officials recommend keeping an extra flashlight, food, and water in vehicles in case of an emergency. For up-to-date road conditions, call 511 in your state.
