Wayne Talbert Kennedy, 80, died Sunday, May 7, 2023, at Lexington Hospice House.
Born December 14, 1942, in Florence, he was a son of the late William Talbert Kennedy and the late Coline Gibbons Kennedy. He was a 1960 graduate of Manning High School and a 1964 graduate of Clemson A&M College where he was a member of the student government for three years and editor of the yearbook. He was a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, a retired mortgage loan officer in the banking industry, and a member of New Zion United Methodist Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Stephanie K. O’Cain of Columbia; a son, Jason T. Kennedy of St. Augustine, FL; four grandchildren, Will &Jack O’Cain and Colin & Sloan Kennedy; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Phil Kennedy; a sister-in-law, Iris Kennedy; and his beloved pet dog, Punkin.
The family would like to express a special thank you to all of the friends and family that supported him during his illness and especially to Eric Smith and Ginger Jones.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at New Zion United Methodist Church with the Rev. Eric McGill and the Rev. Gregg Varner officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service.
