Vivian Ardis Epps

Vivian Ardis Epps, 87, widow of William James “Cutter” Epps, died Friday, December 01, 2023, at Laurel Crest Retirement Community in West Columbia.

Born August 4, 1936, in Manning, she was a daughter of the late Herbert Leard Ardis and the late Nomie Corbett Ardis. Vivian was co-owner and operator along with her husband of Clarendon Furniture Company in Manning for 39 years. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Manning and the Women of the Church.

She is survived by a son, William James “Billy” Epps of Manning; a daughter, Allison Epps Mitchell (Stacy) of Lexington; two sisters, Jean Malone (John) of Florence and Mary Ann Horton (Mike) of Lexington; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David Herbert Epps; three brothers, Wilbur Carlyle Ardis, Herman Edward Ardis and Clyde Ardis.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at the Presbyterian Church at Manning with the Reverend Doctor Charles Jarred Hammet, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Midway Evangelical Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Shawn Epps, Whit Jordan, Michael Farley, Jeremy Evans, David Malone and Quinton Epps.

Visitation was one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church fellowship hall.
