Manning Rotary passed the gavel

The Manning Rotary Club recognized a year of community service and welcomed new leadership Thursday evening as Leigh Ann Maynard passed the gavel to incoming President Melissa Foust-McCoy during the club's annual awards and installation dinner at Porter Jack's.

During the past year, the club supported organizations including Clarendon Christian Learning Center, Well Water Ministries, United Ministries, Vision by Design and the Jordan Community Center while continuing scholarships, youth programs and other community projects.

Maynard was recognized for more than 15 years of service to Rotary. Foust-McCoy credited Maynard with inviting her to join the club.

"Because of Leigh Ann, I now have all of you," she said.

The club also honored Judge Amy Land as its 2025-26 Rotarian of the Year. Land was recognized for hosting the club's Christmas party, leading the dictionary project, serving on the scholarship committee and, fellow members said, never hesitating to volunteer.

As president, Foust-McCoy said her priorities include expanding partnerships with local nonprofits, establishing a signature annual fundraiser, increasing service projects such as litter pickups and food drives, and hosting nonpartisan candidate forums.

She also emphasized member engagement.

"Our newer members are hungry," she said. "Their enthusiasm is contagious, and my hope is that it inspires all of us."

Foust-McCoy closed by telling members she believes "service should be fun" and hopes the coming year will be remembered for the lives touched throughout Clarendon County.
