Two deputies were injured Sunday afternoon  in an off-duty crash near Turbeville, authorities said.

Clarendon County Sheriff Tim Baxley reported that the crash occurred around 6 p.m. on Highway 378, east of Turbeville. The deputies, who were traveling in their personal car, were struck by another vehicle, Baxley stated.

The impact caused the deputies to lose control of their car, which flipped several times. They were transported to a hospital for treatment and their conditions were not immediately available. As of May 28th, the deputies had not been released from the hospital.

One of the injured deputies is a K-9 officer, though no K-9 was in the vehicle at the time of the crash, Baxley said.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
