Thursday night, Clarendon Hall varsity boys basketball team punched their ticket to the SCISA 1A state championship game. The Saints were able to knock off Richard Winn Academy with a 72-43. The game was held at Wilson Hall’s Nash Student Center which was a neutral site.

Clarendon Hall started the game up 9-0 and kept their foot on the gas. Senior Traveon Davis was lighting up the arena with some monster jams. Davis had to dunks that had the whole place on their feet.

The Saints took a 24 point lead into the locker room. After a pep talk and discussing the game plan, the Saints went right back to work. It wasn't until head coach, Anthony Reitenour pulled the starters that the domination slowed.

Now the Saints have one day to prepare for the state championship. This will be the third meeting with their region rival Andrew Jackson Academy this season. The SCISA 1A title is set to tip-off at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Sumter County Civic Center.

Clarendon Hall has combined to beat the Confederates by a total of 46 points. In their first matchup, the Saints won a close one. However, in their second game Clarendon Hall scored 102 points and gave up 60.

“It’s always hard to beat a team three times, but we’re going to try to do it; we’re going to try to pull it off,” said Reitenour. “Josh Barnes is a good coach at Andrew Jackson. He’s thrown about everything you can think of at us over the last three years. I’ve had to prepare for him in a multitude of ways, so I kinda have the whole gamut of what he can possibly run. It’s always a challenge with him because you never know what you’re going to get. I’m just hoping we can keep it going, and our kids don’t come out and think ‘We beat this team by 42 points last time, and we can easily beat them again,’ because AJ played us within four the first time. They’re a very good team.”
