Students from Sumter Career and Technology Center spent the day at Provalus’ Manning facility on March 20, gaining valuable insight into careers in technology and customer support. The visit was part of the IT services company’s ongoing commitment to mentoring and developing the next generation of tech professionals.
Provalus, a 100% U.S.-based outsourcing firm, was established in 2017 with a mission to bring high-quality technology jobs to rural communities. The Manning location has become a hub for career development, offering training in IT service desk support, cybersecurity, data analytics and more—all while prioritizing the hiring and upskilling of veterans and underemployed individuals.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to tour the live production floor, interact with team members, and explore hands-on demonstrations in areas such as hardware, software, and customer experience services.
“As an IT services company, we have a responsibility to mentor tomorrow’s tech leaders,” said Gabe Perez, Lead Recruiter for the Manning/Sumter area. “We take pride in these outreach events, knowing that the young people we engage with today could be our future interns, colleagues—and even our future President.”
The event aimed to inspire students by offering a close-up look at how Provalus operates and what opportunities exist within the tech sector—even for those without traditional IT backgrounds. The company offers a robust training program for new hires, many of whom enter the field without prior experience, and supports ongoing development through certification opportunities and career advancement pathways.
Perez emphasized Provalus’ ongoing commitment to community engagement, saying the team will “persist in exploring new opportunities and events such as this” to help guide and shape the region’s future workforce.
The visit marked another step in building strong connections between education and industry—something Provalus views as vital to both individual and community success.
