Summerton Strikes Back

Posted
By Cedric Liqueur The Force is with the Town of Summerton 4 MAIN…or at least it will be on Saturday, March 2, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. when Clarendon County Star Wars fans of all ages will welcome the 501st Legion for a Star Wars theme event. This fanbased costuming organization of 12,600 Star Wars devotees from around the globe began—no, not on planet Mustafar or Naboo—but right here in South Carolina. It is the preferred costuming organization of Lucasfilm Ltd./Disney representing characters trademarked by George Lucas’ universe. Summerton Strikes Back will unleash The Force and unite 4 MAIN, Harvin Clarendon County Library and Manning High School AFJROTC. This event is free and will include many family activities such as Star Wars conceptual art work, Roper Mountain Astronomers telescope viewing, the Toy Federation Star Wars toys exhibit, Funtastic MeeMee face painting, South Carolina Military Museum exhibit, “Farmer Trent’s Flying Saucer” exhibit, Harvin Clarendon County Library Bookmobile and crafts activity, Sumter AirCare Helicopter, South Carolina Army National Guard vehicle static display and light refreshments. There will be plenty of photo opportunities and giveaways, too. Costumes are optional but highly encouraged! Join the Star Wars community on March 2 at 4 MAIN in Summerton. For more information, contact the Town of Summerton at (803) 485-2525. The Town of Summerton 4 MAIN is committed to programs and events that inspire curiosity and support learning, enjoyment, responsible stewardship of the environment and community connection.
