Stukes-Douglas wedding announcement

Lillian Guerry Stukes of Summerton and Jordan Russell Douglas of Johnsonville were united in marriage at 6 p.m. June 6, 2016, at Summerton Presbyterian Church in Summerton.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Chalmers Stukes III of Summerton, and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Guerry Stukes of Summerton, the late Frank Jackson of Mayesville and the late Jackie Lee Payne of Panama City, Florida.

The bride graduated from Clarendon Hall, and received a bachelor of science degree in nursing from the University of South Carolina in Columbia. She received a master of science degree in nursing and a doctoral degree in nursing practice from the Medical University of South Carolina. She is employed as a family nurse practitioner with Colonial Family Practice in Manning.

The groom is a son of Dr. Gaye Moore Douglas of Hemingway and Ronald Dale Douglas of Johnsonville. He is the grandson of Mrs. George Ballard Douglas and the late George Ballard Douglas, both of Johnsonville, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Russell Moore of Hemingway.

He graduated from Johnsonville High School and received a bachelor of science degree in biology from Francis Marion University. He is employed as a law enforcement officer in Clarendon County for the state Department of Natural Resources.

The Rev. Dr. Charles Jarred Hammett and the Rev. Josephine Cutchin Holler officiated at the ceremony. Music was provided by Sherry Martin Stewart, soloist; Mrs. Hugh Toland Stoddard, organist; Mrs. David Decker, violin; and Dr. Tony Roebuck, trumpet.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a French alencon lace bodice with a custom lace V-neck, cinched in at the waist by a gathered cummerbund giving an hourglass silhouette. The full A-line skirt is pleated front-to-back, giving the skirt and train a truly sumptuous look. Covered buttons trail down the back as a finishing touch.

Caroline Elliott Stukes served as the maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Sarah Sloan Batson, Sarah Marie Bedard, Beth DuBose Brewer, Trivette Hatcher Curtis, Madeline Crosby Ellison, Lindsay Briggs Furse, Cantey Martin Gibbons, Morgan Tomlinson Greer, Erica Jones Hodge, Sara Wilson Parker, Fawn Russell Pedalino, Brandee Cupp Stukes and Dixie DuBose Stukes. Elizabeth Carson Batten served as a junior bridesmaid.

Olivia James Halsey, Addison Bray McElveen and Ella Elizabeth Stukes served as flower girls.

Justin Ronald Douglas served as the best man. Groomsmen included Christopher Allen Brookens, Barry Scott Carmichael, Adam Donovan Douglas, Ryan Austin Douglas, Peter Martin Gordon, Zachary Tyler Livingston, Jameson David McCall, Adam Josh Powell, Brandon Reid Purvis, Joseph Whitworth Stukes and Lionel Chalmers Stukes IV.

Joseph Whitworth Stukes Jr. served as the ring-bearer.

The reception was given by the parents of the bride at their home in Summerton.

The rehearsal party was given by the mother of the groom at Bassard's Pond House in Manning.

Following a wedding trip to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, the couple resides in Summerton.
