East Clarendon loses winning streak
After a string of three wins, East Clarendon’s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to the Lake City Panthers 56-52. The Wolverines lost against the Panthers in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 73-28 score last time.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lake City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Blayne Edwards, who posted 14 points and six rebounds. Kenjae Burgess was another key player, putting up 14 points.
East Clarendon’s loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Lake City, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-2.

For those keeping track at home, that’s the biggest victory the Swampcats have posted since January 3rd.

Scott’s Branch boasts season high score
Scott’s Branch scored the most points they’ve had this season on Friday, but it wasn’t enough. The matchup between them and the Manning Monarchs didn’t end well, with the Scott’s Branch Eagles falling 71-53. The Eagles have struggled against the Monarchs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Scott’s Branch lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Nigel Lawson, who posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Randy Williams, who had 13 points.

Manning bests Scott’s Branch
The Manning Monarchs will head out on the road to challenge the Scott’s Branch Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Manning can’t be too happy about their upcoming road match considering what happened when they opened their season on the away from home back in November. They took a blow against Socastee, falling 60-17. The Monarchs’ defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Scott’s Branch was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 41-40 to East Clarendon. While the Eagles didn’t get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolverines 13-8 in the first quarter.
Manning will have to contain Nigel Lawson as he made an impact in Scott’s Branch’s last game. He posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Nyren Bowman, who put up nine points.
Everything went Manning’s way against Scott’s Branch when the teams last played back in December of 2023, as Manning made off with a 71-51 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Scott’s Branch’s Scott’S Branch Middle/High School, who had 26 points. Now that he won’t be playing on Friday, will it be easier for Manning to walk away with another win?
Clarendon Hall loses away game
Clarendon Hall had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn’t the start they were hoping for. They lost 51-25 to the Williamsburg Academy Stallions. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Saints of the 69-51 defeat they experienced in the pair’s previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
