VARSITY BASEBALL

East Clarendon High School

East Clarendon picked up another tournament win on Thursday. They blew past the Catholic Crusaders 9-3. Considering the Wolverines have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday’s blowout was nothing new.

East Clarendon got a great performance from Cooper Goff as he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Goff has been consistent: he hasn’t given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Dawson Beard was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That’s the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Barnes McConnell, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

The win made it two in a row for East Clarendon and bumps their season record up to 15-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That’s put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

East Clarendon will be taking part in a tournament against Lewisville at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Catholic, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Walsingham Academy at 4:30 p.m.
