East Clarendon smashes Atlantic Collegiate Academy

The East Clarendon Wolverines (Turbeville, SC) football trounced the visiting Atlantic Collegiate Academy Armada (Conway, SC), 45-10 in Friday’s league outing.

The Wolverines now sport a 6-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Marion for a AA Region 7 outing on Friday, November 1. East Clarendon will clash with a Swamp Foxes squad coming off a 38-13 league loss to Manning (Manning, SC). The Swamp Foxes record now stands at 1-8.

Clarendon Hall takes a loss

Clarendon Hall was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 47-6 loss at the hands of the Greenwood Christian Hawks. The Saints were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hawks apparently hadn’t forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2014.

Clarendon Hall’s defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Greenwood Christian, their victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2.

Clarendon Hall will take on Calhoun Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Calhoun Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they’ve averaged 38.4 points per game this season. As for Greenwood Christian, they will face off against Spartanburg Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Greenwood Christian also hasn’t been messing around on offense: they’ve averged 31.2 points per game.

Laurence Manning comes up short

Laurence Manning Academy suffered their closest loss since September 1, 2023 on Friday. They fell just short of the Trinity Collegiate Titans by a score of 28-25. The Swampcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Titans apparently hadn’t forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.

Davidson Lynch had an outrageously good game for Trinity Collegiate as he threw for 221 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 64 yards. Trinity Collegiate also got a significant boost from Caleb Collins, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 85 yards.

This is the second loss in a row for Laurence Manning Academy and nudges their season record down to 3-6. As for Trinity Collegiate, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

Laurence Manning Academy will challenge Porter-Gaud at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Porter-Gaud is coming into the contest with three straight wins at home, so Laurence Manning Academy will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.

Marion knocked off by Manning

In Friday’s league game, the Manning Monarchs (Manning, SC) football team overcame the host Marion Swamp Foxes (Marion, SC), by a tally of 38-13.

In their next game, the Monarchs face the Lake City Panthers (Lake City, SC) in a AA Region 7 game, on Friday, November 1. Manning will attempt to better on its 8-1 season record. The Panthers enter the game with a 4-5 record after their 41-0 league win over Marion (Marion, SC).

Scott’s Branch comes up short

The matchup between Scott’s Branch and Baptist Hill on Friday hardly resembled the 8-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Scott’s Branch Eagles took a 32-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Baptist Hill Bobcats. The Eagles haven’t had much luck with the Bobcats recently, as the team’s come up short the last three times they’ve met.

Baptist Hill’s win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Martrell Wright, who picked up 140 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Wright was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 67 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnquez Henderson, who threw for 218 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.3% of his passes.

Scott’s Branch’s loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Baptist Hill, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.

Scott’s Branch will challenge Military Magnet Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Baptist Hill, they will square off against Cross at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cross will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Baptist Hill surely won’t give up without a fight.
