Scott’s Branch trounces Bethune-Bowman

In Friday’s league match, the host Scott’s Branch Eagles football squad scored a decisive 68-6 triumph over the Bethune-Bowman Mohawks.

The Eagles (3-5) will now prepare for their match against Baptist Hill (Hollywood, SC). The Bobcats come into the A Region 5 match with a 5-2 record. In their last match, Baptist Hill routed St. John’s (John’s Island, SC), 50-0, in a league match.

Coming up next, the Mohawks battle the Cross Trojans (Cross, SC) in a A Region 5 contest, on Friday, October 25. Bethune-Bowman will attempt to better on its 1-8 season record. The Trojans enter the contest with a 6-2 record after their 54-12 league win over Scott’s Branch (Summerton, SC).

 

East Clarendon takes a loss

East Clarendon fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Mullins on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Mullins Auctioneers 24-18. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wolverines of the 33-19 loss they experienced in the pair’s previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2019.

East Clarendon’s defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Mullins, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.

East Clarendon will be playing at home against Atlantic Collegiate Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mullins, they will head out on the road to square off against Kingstree at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

 

Atlantic Collegiate Academy overwhelmed by Manning

The Manning Monarchs walloped the visiting Atlantic Collegiate Academy Armada football team by a score of 49-10 in Friday’s league outing.

The Monarchs now sport a 7-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Marion for a AA Region 7 game on Friday, October 25. Manning will face a Swamp Foxes team coming off a 41-0 league loss to Lake City (Lake City, SC). The Swamp Foxes record now stands at 1-7.

The Armada (1-6) will now prepare for their game against East Clarendon (Turbeville, SC). The Wolverines enter the AA Region 7 game with a 5-3 record. In their last game, East Clarendon was trounced by Mullins (Mullins, SC), 24-18, in a league outing.

 

Laurence Manning Academy takes a loss

Laurence Manning Academy was the 26-13 winner over Ben Lippen when they last played one another back in September of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Laurence Manning Academy Swampcats took a 30-23 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ben Lippen Falcons on Friday.

Grainger Powell threw for 227 yards and two touchdowns.

A big part of Ben Lippen’s victory came down to the chemistry between Michael Traynum and his top target Jamere Crooks. Traynum rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown on only five carries while Crooks gained 172 total yards and a touchdown. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 60 yards.

Laurence Manning Academy has been struggling recently as they’ve lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Ben Lippen, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Laurence Manning Academy will face off against Trinity Collegiate at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Ben Lippen, they will square off against Hammond at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hammond is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they’ve averaged 34.5 points per game this season.
