Southern Senior Living celebrated the grand opening of its newly constructed Pocotaligo River Health and Rehab facility on January 6, 2022. The 60,000-square-foot, 88-bed skilled nursing facility, located on a 22.7-acre parcel of land near the Pocotaligo River in Manning, SC features an innovative household concept. The layout is designed to provide a homelike environment to the residents that will be living there. Each 22-bed household boasts a beautiful living room with fireplace, buffet-style dining room, private dining options, spacious resident rooms with handicap accessible bathrooms, and secure courtyards with views of the surrounding outdoor landscape.

Located at 3147 Sumter Hwy in Manning, SC, Pocotaligo River Health and Rehab features a 1350-square-foot community room with high vaulted ceilings and chandeliers for large gatherings and a quaint, elegant chapel to meet the spiritual needs of the residents and their families. The Bistro and Friends and Family room will provide access to a covered porch outfitted with ceiling fans along with a 530-square-foot outdoor pavilion, nestled inside the secure main courtyard. A classroom dedicated to training facility staff is complete with state-of-the-art presentation technology. There is a beautifully decorated salon with multiple hair stations and a manicure table – sure to be popular amongst the clientele.

The $20-million project was financed by Synovus Bank, designed by McMillan Pazdan Smith architectural firm, and built by Mashburn Construction. Southern Senior living authorized the beginning of construction in February of 2019 and the work was completed in late 2021.

Pocotaligo River Health and Rehab has been in planning for several years and will replace the existing Windsor Manor facility located in the Silver community of Manning. The current residents of Windsor Manor will be the first to move into their new home. The residents and staff of Windsor Manor are busy making final preparations for the move, projected to take place in January of 2022. Soon thereafter, the facility will begin accepting admissions from throughout the community and surrounding areas.

Pocotaligo River Health and Rehab will offer a comprehensive list of services, including Physical, Occupation, and Speech Therapy and will cater to residents needing either short or long-term stays.  The admissions and social services staff of the facility will be able to assist potential residents with navigating the complex reimbursement system for nursing homes, and the clinical teams are designed to develop an individualized plan of care tailored to meet the specific needs of each resident.
