Sen. Kevin Johnson, D-Manning, appointed Ric Simms as the newest Clarendon County magistrate judge on Monday afternoon. Simms was joined by his family, including wife Sharon Thames-Simms, and the couple's children. Simms was sworn-in by Clarendon County Clerk of Court Beulah Roberts. Simms has a law enforcement background, having worked for the Manning Police Department and the Clarendon County Sheriff's Office. He has a degree in criminal justice.
