Columbia, S.C. (Nov. 22, 2024) – The South Carolina Technical College System Foundation has received a $15,000 grant from the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina. The Sisters of Charity Foundation awards grants to nonprofits that strive to reduce poverty throughout the state of South Carolina and beyond. The SCTCS Foundation was part of the Breaking the Cycle category.
One example of the SCTCS Foundation’s programs is Create Opportunity. “We are excited to receive this impactful support from the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina. This funding will propel Create Opportunity’s training of high-tech workforce across the Palmetto State,” says Ben Rex, Chair of the SCTCS Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
These Breaking the Cycle grants are designed for organizations that are creating and sustaining pathways to economic mobility and self-sufficiency. The Sisters of Charity Foundation awarded $210,000 across 10 different organizations in this category.
In this cycle of funding, the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina awarded 120 grants totaling $1,148,000 to nonprofit organizations across the state. 21 of the 120 organizations to receive a grant are located in the Midlands, a $155,000 commitment to the region.

Our mission to reduce poverty across the state becomes a reality when we collaborate with these empowered organizations."
These Cycle 2 grant recipients serve all 46 South Carolina counties, and many of these nonprofits provide services across the state.
