The Manning Rotary Club held its regular meeting on Wednesday, October 9, at Porter Jack’s in Manning. The primary focus of the meeting was finalizing the details for the much-anticipated Clarendon County School Board Candidate Forum, which took place the following night at Weldon Auditorium. Members worked diligently to ensure all arrangements were in place to host the historic event.
The forum, the first of its kind since Clarendon County consolidated into a unified school district, featured 20 of the 27 school board candidates. Moderated by Rotary President Johnson James, Communications and Talent Development leader for TheLINK Economic Development Alliance Erika Williams, and The Manning Times Managing Editor Melissa McCoy, the event provided voters an opportunity to hear directly from the candidates as they shared their vision for the future of education in the county.
The club was thrilled to report that the forum had a wonderful turnout, with many Clarendon County residents attending to support the event and engage with the candidates. Following the formal Q&A session, the community enjoyed light refreshments and a chance to interact with the candidates in a more informal setting.
The Manning Rotary Club would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all who participated and attended. Your support made this forum a resounding success, and we are proud to have played a role in fostering informed civic engagement.
We look forward to continuing our service to the community and making a positive impact in Clarendon County.
