Murray Jasper Jackson III

Murray Jasper Jackson III, 67, husband of Lydia Ann Hodge Jackson, died Wednesday, September 16, 2020, at his home.

Born April 27, 1953, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Murray Jasper Jackson, Jr. and the late Ruby Thigpen Jackson Armour. He was a member of Deep Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church and the Royal Rangers.

He is survived by his wife of Manning; three daughters, Rebecca Lynn Cowart (Jim) of Lexington, Ashley Loreen Jackson (Angelo Dimitriadis) of Manning and Kristian Leigh Jackson of Sumter; a son, Murray Jasper Jackson IV (Cindy Chandler) of Manning; eight grandchildren, Reagan Cowart, Jackson Cowart, Breanna Jackson (Philip Dawkins), Justin Still, Jr., Jakobi “Breeze” Still, Jade Horton (Eric), Kimberly Jackson and Murray Jackson V; a sister, Deborah Elaine Jackson of Pinewood; a brother, Larry Thigpen (Ann) of Greeleyville; a special niece and caregiver, Elizabeth Milam; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved fur babies, Maggie, Fancy, Mason and Skie; and his horse, Roxie.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2020, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Josh Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Deep Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Bryant, Michael Pritchard, David Milam, Dwayne Thigpen, Elmer Bench, Blake DuRant, Richard Spivey, C.T. Tisdale and Rhett Floyd.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 14724 Raccoon Road, Manning.
