It’s only a few weeks before the Presidential Election and a hurricane is about to hit Florida. I’m watching a Polka show. Yes, I’ve had enough.
If you think some election advertisements are bad, listen to this. There was an ad that claimed that if certain people were elected, “Incest and adultery would be taught and practiced.” That was from the third presidential election but you could imagine that be an ad today. Some things are getting wilder.
I’ve heard enough ads and my pick for most of the candidates were decided a while back. Yes, all these ads are tiring. Most news outlets have picked their candidate and seem to only report on their guy.
The hurricane that hit Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee has created a plethora of tales about aid, people, supplies, government help and wild stories. Now another hurricane is going to hit Florida and bring more destruction to a state that is still suffering from the last hurricane.
This is a perfect time to tell different stories about what is happening to clean up, fix and help out the people that are suffering from this natural disaster.
Most of the politicians want to jump in to get some publicity from this suffering. That is tiring to watch. Add to that, non-stop coverage of people standing in water and talking about the wind and evacuation and it is obvious why I’m watching the Polka show.
The Polka show just ended but it was a nice show and I didn’t have to think about too much stuff that would get me upset. The choice was watch news about one politician or the other politician. If I get on weather, there is a friend or acquaintance seemingly everywhere the storm is heading.
The polka show was a refreshing break. All those old people were dancing around in a big circle with that zydeco music keeping them smiling. Cowboy hats and jeans and big dresses sashayed around the floor and brought out lots of smiles. Now that show is over and there is nothing else on television that I can watch without getting upset. That’s why I’m typing and getting ready for bed.
I am praying for all the people that have been inconvenienced by the storm and the people in harm’s way for the coming storm. I’m hoping for the safety of the linemen, caregivers and people who help out in whatever way they can.
A new journey will start for many people. They will all have new stories to tell and those stories will be better than any political or weather story that shows up on television. The real life account is always the most interesting. It is also possibly the most troubling.
I’m just glad I could watch a little dancing and listen to some music. At least for a little while, I didn’t have to worry about the state of the country or the possible suffering of friends and family.
