Monarch Strong Talent and Car Show thrills Manning community

Monarch Strong Corporation (MSC) kicked off their 2024 events with a spectacular day of activities, starting with hot air balloon rides at 8:00 a.m. on a bright and sunny Saturday. The 3rd Annual MSC Auto Show, held alongside the inaugural Monarchs Got Talent show, drew a large crowd and featured impressive vehicles and outstanding performances.

Hosted by Manning High School principal, Dr. Kelvin Lemon, and judged by the MHS staff, the talent show was a highlight of the day. Manning’s Army National Guard also joined the festivities, participating in early morning physical fitness training.

“This event showcases the incredible talent and community spirit in Manning,” said Dr. Lemon.

The Auto Show featured a variety of vehicles, with winners including:

1st Place Best Truck: 1967 Chevy C-10, owned by Henry Dingle, Jr.

2nd Place Best Truck: 1950 Chevy 3100, owned by Brian Parker

3rd Place Best Truck: 1986 Chevy, owned by Tom Brownell

1st Place Best Golf Cart: ’95 Club Car, owned by Waring Dingle

1st Place Best Car: 1973 Nova, SS Hatchback, owned by Paul Hilton

The talent show winners were:

1st place winner, Dawson Palmer, MHS rising Senior

2nd Place: Katelyn McKenzie, MHS rising Senior

3rd Place: Free Dixon, MHS rising Senior

Audience Choice: Dimond Lloyd, MHS Class of 2024

Clarendon County Sheriff Officers, Latisha Jeter and Jasmine Snell, ensured the event ran smoothly, while attendees like Ashley Filipe, a 2023 MSC scholarship recipient and first-generation college student, volunteered their time to support the community.

MSC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded by Manning High School alumni. Since 2022, MSC has awarded 15 scholarships to deserving MHS seniors. The organization hosts community events to generate funds for scholarships and essential needs in the Manning community.

Looking ahead, MSC is preparing for the 4th Annual Bike-Run-Walk scheduled for October 12 at JC Britton Park in Manning, SC. The community is encouraged to get in shape and participate in this exciting event.
