A Manning man who had been reported missing by his family last week was found dead Sunday in a pond on Paxville Highway, according to the Clarendon County Coroner’s Office.
Johnnie Lee Bowman, 66, was identified as the deceased.
According to a release from the coroner’s office, Bowman was reported missing by his family to the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office last week. He was described as a vulnerable veteran who was also reported to have post-traumatic stress disorder.
Bowman’s body was found Sept. 6 in a pond at 5500 block of Paxville Highway in Manning.
An autopsy is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 11, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston to determine the cause and manner of death.
The Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office and Clarendon County Coroner’s Office are investigating.
