Missing man located safe after tip from postal worker

Posted

A man previously reported missing in Manning has been found safe, according to Manning Police Chief Sean Briley.

Around 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, The Manning Times received a call from Lake City postal worker Tonya Jordan, who was attempting to share information with law enforcement after noticing someone she believed matched the description of 39-year-old Christopher Julian.

Jordan, who has worked the same delivery route for several years, told the newspaper’s office manager that she noticed a man she did not recognize while making her regular deliveries. After seeing recent social media posts about Julian, she became concerned the individual she encountered could be the missing man.

Jordan provided detailed information about where she had seen him along her route. The Manning Times relayed the information to the Manning Police Department for follow-up.

At approximately 3 p.m., Briley confirmed Julian had been located safe and would soon be reunited with his family.

Authorities said Julian’s parents had traveled from Maine and had been in the area searching for him throughout the week.

After receiving confirmation from police, The Manning Times contacted Jordan to share the update. She said she was relieved to hear Julian was safe and grateful she could help.

Julian had been reported missing after last being seen in January near Walmart on Paxville Highway. According to an incident report, he was last observed in the parking lot after walking away from contact with law enforcement. The case was initially reported to the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office before being referred to Manning police.

Officials thanked community members who shared information and remained alert during the search.
