The Manning High School Monarch Connection Jazz Band received an Excellent rating at the South Carolina Band Directors Association Jazz Performance Assessment held at Newberry College on March 1 and 2.
Under the direction of Dr. Jordan Jefferson, the band performed Manteca by South Carolina native Dizzy Gillespie, Summertime from Porgy & Bess by George and Ira Gershwin and DuBose Heyward, and Fantasy by Earth, Wind & Fire.
Christel Hatfield was also recognized as the Best Soloist of the event.
