MHS Marching Pride Band Receives Competition Honors

The Manning High School Golden Pride Marching Band recently traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina, to participate in the Phillip O. Berry Spirit of the Cardinal Band Competition and performed in class 2A. The band placed 2nd overall in class 2A. In the Band of the Day category, which included 16 bands regardless of class and size, the Golden Pride placed 3rd overall.

“Our students, boosters, and band staff have worked hard on this show. Their determination was evident this past weekend,” stated Jordan Jefferson, MHS Director of Bands and Choral Studies. “As we progress throughout the season, we look forward to even more growth in our performance as we continue to strive for musical excellence!”

The band received several other prestigious awards at the competition. Awards included:

-1st Place Drum Majors in class 2A

2nd Place Music in class 2A

- 2nd Place Drum Line in class 2A

- 2nd Place General Effect in class 2A

- 2nd Place Marching in class 2A

- 3rd Place Dance Line in class 2A

- 3rd Place Color Guard in class 2A

As the MHS Marching Golden Pride continues to make their mark, they will play in the Memorial Day Parade in Washington, DC, in 2024 as an invitee because of the musical achievements and talents of the program.
