The City of Manning’s 107-year-old sewer replacement project will shift to Boyce Street next week, prompting a temporary closure of a busy downtown stretch.
City officials announced Thursday that Boyce Street will be shut down from Mill Street to Church Street beginning the evening of Monday, Oct. 6. Crews will begin construction Tuesday, Oct. 7, with work expected to take four weeks.
Businesses and sidewalks in the affected area will remain open throughout construction. Parking will be available on adjacent streets as well as in the municipal lot off Church Street and the magistrate’s office lot off Mill Street.
The city is asking businesses along the construction zone to limit water and sewer usage during the project.
This work is part of a multi-phase effort to replace Manning’s aging sewer infrastructure, much of which dates back more than a century. City leaders have said the upgrades are critical to preventing costly breakdowns, protecting public health, and preparing Manning for future growth.
“We thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we Move Manning Forward,” the city said in a statement.
