After notching their first win of the season against Florence Post 1 on June 11, Manning-Santee Post 68 dropped two closely contested games last week, falling to Summerville Post 21 and Sumter Post 15.

In Thursday night’s road game at Pinewood Prep, Post 68 lost 4-3 to Summerville Post 21. Manning-Santee jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the third inning and added another run in the fifth, but couldn’t hold off a late rally. Summerville scored three runs in the fourth and the go-ahead run in the fifth to seal the win. Despite out-hitting their opponents 6-3, Post 68 left opportunities on the base paths. Summerville’s Jayce Stone earned the win, tossing three shutout innings with two strikeouts.

On Monday, June 16, Post 68 returned home to Monarch Field, where they suffered a 1-0 loss to Sumter Post 15. The game was a pitcher’s duel throughout, with the only run of the night coming in the top of the fourth. Sumter’s Cory Bailey was dominant on the mound, scattering two hits across 6.2 innings and striking out two without allowing a walk. Manning-Santee committed two errors, which proved costly in the defensive battle.

Following these results, Manning-Santee Post 68 now holds a 1-5 record on the season, with their lone win coming in a 9-5 victory over Florence. The team returns to action Tuesday night with a road game against Sumter Post 15 at Riley Park.
