The Manning Rotary Club will host a candidate forum for the upcoming Clarendon County School Board election on Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. at the Weldon Auditorium. The event will provide an opportunity for voters to hear from all 27 candidates who have filed with the county’s Voter Registration office.
The forum's format will depend on the number of candidates who confirm their attendance. Options include a timed introduction followed by platform speeches or a brief Q&A session after the introductions. The event will be moderated by Johnson James, president of the Manning Rotary Club and owner of Johnson James - State Farm Insurance Agency, alongside Melissa McCoy, managing editor of The Manning Times and a Rotary Club member.
Following the forum, light refreshments will be served during an informal meet and greet, giving community members the chance to speak one-on-one with the candidates.
“This is a pivotal time for our county’s education system, and we’re honored to facilitate this important conversation,” James said. “We look forward to providing a platform for candidates to share their visions and for voters to engage directly with those who could shape the future of our schools.”
The Manning Rotary Club has distributed flyers in both PDF and JPG formats, encouraging candidates to share them at their businesses, churches, and on social media to help promote the event.
The event is free and open to the public.
