A Manning man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Friday evening on U.S. Highway 521, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol and Clarendon County Coroner Jacqueline Blackwell.
The collision occurred around 5:05 p.m. near Ridge Road when a 2008 Honda sedan traveling south ran off the road to the left and struck a tree, said SCHP Corporal Nick Pye. The driver, who was the only occupant, sustained fatal injuries at the scene.
Blackwell identified the victim as Anthony Tyrell Johnson, 40, of Manning. An autopsy has been scheduled for next week at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
