The Manning City Council held its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, June 10, at the Manning City Fire Department Training Room, where councilmembers advanced several items of business and held a public hearing on the city’s proposed operating budget for the coming fiscal year.
Mayor Julia A. Nelson opened the meeting with a welcome and introductory remarks. Councilmember Ervin L. Davis delivered the invocation, followed by Councilmember Clayton Pack leading the Pledge of Allegiance.
The agenda was approved without amendment, and council adopted the minutes from three previous sessions: the regular meeting held May 13 and work sessions on May 20 and June 3. All minutes were accepted unanimously.
Council then opened a public hearing on the proposed budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2026. No citizens spoke during the hearing, and council moved to approve the budget on its second reading. The passage marks a key step in finalizing the city’s financial planning for the upcoming year.
The Finance Director presented the monthly financial report, followed by routine updates from the Mayor and City Administrator. No action was taken on those reports.
The meeting was properly advertised and open to the public. Public notice was posted on June 6, and media were notified the same day. The public hearing was advertised in The Item on May 31, in accordance with South Carolina state law.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for July.
