A 23-year-old Manning man was arrested Tuesday morning at McLeod Health Clarendon after reportedly threatening law enforcement officers with a firearm, according to the Manning Police Department.
Officers responded to the hospital at approximately 10:36 a.m. following a report from a bondsman attempting to revoke the bond of Andrew Timothy Jennings. Jennings, who was out on bond for a previous charge of failure to stop for blue lights, had reportedly gone to the hospital for treatment in an effort to avoid returning to jail.
Police said Jennings had checked in as a patient and was wearing a hospital wristband when they made contact with him in the parking lot. He was found carrying a book bag that contained marijuana and a stolen firearm.
While Jennings did not brandish the weapon at officers or hospital staff, the bondsman alleged that Jennings had displayed the firearm earlier. Police stated they could not confirm that claim at this time.
Jennings was arrested and charged with unlawful carry of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Officers cleared the scene by 11:24 a.m. after Jennings was transported to the Clarendon County Detention Center.
