Main Street Manning will offer a free workshop Aug. 31 aimed at helping local small business owners strengthen their marketing skills and simplify some of the day-to-day work of running a business.
The Small Business Workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to noon in the Manning Fire Department training room, 38 W. Boyce St. The event is free for Manning businesses.
Main Street Manning partnered with Main Street South Carolina to bring Leniece Lane, the woman behind Small Town Soul, to Manning to lead the workshop, according to Carrie Trebil, special projects coordinator for Main Street Manning.
Small Town Soul is a full-service marketing agency based in Rutherfordton, North Carolina, that works with town leaders, small business owners and nonprofits in rural communities. The agency offers training, branding, website design, marketing strategy, social media management and consulting services and has worked with Main Street programs for more than 10 years. Its workshops are designed specifically around challenges businesses and organizations face in rural communities.
Trebil said Lane understands small businesses and small towns and is a strong presenter.
“Small businesses have to be everything for their businesses, and marketing can be a difficult piece of the puzzle for small businesses,” Trebil said. “This workshop will help business owners understand marketing better.”
Topics will include making social media more manageable, taking photos that stand out on social media, website basics, Canva design tips, time management, tools to streamline workflow and search engine optimization and digital marketing.
Trebil said she hopes participants leave with practical skills they can begin using immediately, particularly when promoting their businesses online.
“I want to see an influx of great photos being used in social media marketing,” she said.
