Jarett Poole, a senior at Laurence Manning Academy, has recently committed to St. Andrews University. On April 26th, Poole signed to play college football with St. Andrews. Playing his favorite sport in college is everything Poole wanted to do in his future.

“It feels great, like a dream come true,” said Jarett.

When touring his future college, St. Andrews University. Everyone was extremely nice and welcoming to Jarrett. The football coach would call and speak with Poole every week. He was always informed on how everything was going at the college.

Jarett has always been very passionate about football and is very competitive when it comes to the sport. He has played sports since he was six years old, but football has always been his favorite. Jarrett’s biggest motivation to where he is currently as an athlete would be the inspiration of his father Charlie Poole. Poole explained he truly found his passion for sports in the game of football. Jarett came to Laurence Manning Academy his senior year to play football and plays quarterback and linebacker for Laurence Manning. With COVID 19 affecting many schools and sports teams, Laurence Manning Academy has been lucky in finishing their football season. Making Jarrett’s senior year one of the best years he’s had as an athlete.

Laurence Manning has made State Runner-up in Football for the second year in a row. Jarret played a significant role in this accomplishment.

Austin Floyd, the Laurence Manning football coach, agrees that Jarret is a very hard-working student and athlete.

“It was very exciting to see Jarrett and other players have success on and off the field,” said Floyd.

Jarrett’s future plans and goals consist of completing four more years of football while doing everything he can to remain successful.

“We’re very excited and proud for Jarrett. He is a great student-athlete and has been a joy to coach,” said Floyd “I’m glad our lives crossed paths. He will always be one of my players. We wish him nothing but the best as he moves on from Laurence Manning.”

Madison Kinsley is a senior at Laurence Manning Academy. Kinsley recently committed to Coker University, division two on April 26th. She received a preferred walk-on and national letter of intent to play on their girl’s lacrosse team. Mickey Davis is her lacrosse coach at Laurence Manning. Kinsley has played on the lacrosse varsity boy’s team for two years. Laurence Manning only has a boys lacrosse team: there was not fully enough attention from other girls to create a full girls lacrosse team. Kinsley, and one other girl, are the only girls on the team.

Madison has full experience playing on a boys lacrosse team, as well as, playing on a girl’s lacrosse team in Virginia.

“I have learned a lot between girls and boys lacrosse and can put those into perspective,” said Madison. “I’ve grown stronger as an individual and a player.”

Before moving to Laurence Manning, Kinsley lived in Virginia and has been playing lacrosse since she was 11 years old. Kinsley currently lives in Manning, SC and moved when she was 15 years old. Kinsley also helped coach the middle school lacrosse team during her junior and senior years of high school. Madison’s position on the lacrosse team is attack. She plans to play attack at Coker University as well. Madison says she most enjoys the thrill of walking onto the field and the fast-paced motion of the game. Madison’s biggest dream was to play women’s college lacrosse.

“When I was playing boy’s lacrosse, I was losing hope that I’d never been able to play women’s college lacrosse,” said Kinsley.

When she was given the opportunity to play women’s lacrosse at Coker University, she was extremely excited her dreams were coming true.

“I now have something big to look forward to this fall,” said Madison.

Kinsley loved Coker University when she first toured it, it felt as if she were at Laurence Manning.

Kinsley’s future plans for college and lacrosse are to; reach her 1,000 goal mark while also meeting a lot of people and achieving her business degree.
