The Williamsburg Historical Society will host "Liberty Declared!" at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Historic Williamsburg County Courthouse. The SC250 commemorative program will feature the Rev. Ernest Frierson reading the Declaration of Independence, guest speaker Ben Ziegler discussing how Independence Day was celebrated in 1840, and a look at how South Carolinians first heard the Declaration's words in Charleston in August 1776, about a month after it was signed. The event is open to the public.
