Dear Readers,
Spring has officially settled into Clarendon County, and with it comes the familiar beauty of azaleas in full bloom. Their bursts of pink, white, and purple line our streets and yards like confetti, celebrating the season’s arrival. It’s one of my favorite times of year — when the weather warms, porches fill up again, and there’s a sense of renewal in the air.
The latest issue of Farmer will be out soon, and we can’t wait for you to dig into the stories that highlight the heart of agriculture in our region. From dedicated dog trainers to generational family farms, this edition showcases the passion, grit, and legacy of rural life in South Carolina.
On a more personal note, my son Connor and I had the pleasure of attending a truly special event this past weekend — the time capsule ceremony at the Presbyterian Church of Manning. It was a meaningful reminder of how our stories, when preserved, have the power to connect generations. Watching the Masons perform their ceremonial work was a moment of quiet reverence and community pride. I’m grateful for the experience and the memories we were able to make together.
I’m also thrilled to share some exciting news — The Manning Times recently received several South Carolina Press Association awards. To say I’m proud is an understatement. These honors reflect the hard work and dedication of our all-female newsroom, and we are more motivated than ever to keep raising the bar. Every week, we strive to serve our readers with journalism that informs, celebrates, and connects. Thank you for trusting us with your stories.
Here’s to honoring the past, growing in the present, and building toward an even brighter future — one headline at a time.
