Letida Eunice Langston, 86, widow of Cecil Chessley Langston, Jr., died Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at her home.
Born March 11, 1939, in Florence, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Strickland and the late Eunice Vause Strickland. She was a member of Santee Baptist Church where she served as organist and pianist for many years. She taught piano and she loved to fish.
She is survived by two daughters, Miranda Upp (Bill) of Summerton and Myra Jenkins of Manning; seven grandchildren, Beth Etheridge (Robert), Brad Calcutt (Sarah), Brittany Briley (Tony), Robbie Campbell (Jessica), Victoria McCollough (Matthew), Chelsea Lee (Nicholas) and Ryan Tedder (Roxie); numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Alton Langston (Ann) of Union; sister-in-law, Melba Rae Lehman (Jim) of Florence; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Cecil Chessley Langston III; two grandchildren, Ken Langston and Mickey Tedder; and a brother, Rudy Strickland.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Santee Baptist Church with the Rev. Adam Wilson, the Rev. Gene Mosier and the Rev. Bennie Barwick officiating. Burial will follow at Elim Baptist Church Cemetery in Effingham.
Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at Santee Baptist Church.
