As temperatures begin to dip, Well-Watered Ministries is partnering with Clarendon County School District guidance counselors to make sure local children and families have warm coats and clothing before the cold truly sets in.
The ministry’s Winter Coat Drive is now underway with several drop-off locations. Community members are encouraged to donate new or gently used coats of all sizes, from toddler through adult.
“We know that cold weather can be a hardship for some families, especially when kids outgrow coats so quickly,” said Eliana Jenkinson from Well-Watered Ministries. “Our goal is to make sure no child in Clarendon County goes without a warm coat this winter.”
This year, the ministry is working closely with school guidance counselors to identify students most in need. Schools such as Manning Junior High are also collecting additional items through their Clothing and Care Closet initiative, which supports middle schoolers year-round with essentials like pants, shirts, socks, undergarments, deodorant, hygiene products, and school supplies.
“Together, we can spread kindness and make this school year a little more comfortable for everyone,” said a coordinator of the MJHS Clothing and Care Closet. “Every donation, big or small, makes a difference.”
HOW TO HELP
Community members can drop off coats and other donations at:
Donations will be distributed through local schools and Well-Watered Ministries’ outreach programs.
The drive will continue through the fall, but organizers are urging residents to donate as soon as possible so coats can reach families before the first real cold snap hits.
