James Patrick “Pat” Yates, Sr., 79, died Friday, April 4, 2025, at Prisma Health Richland.
Born March 17, 1946, in Turbeville, he was a son of the late Jim Purvis Yates and the late Margaret Coker Yates. He was a retired independent contractor.
He is survived by a daughter, Stephanie McLaughlin (Phil) of Turbeville; a son, Jamie Yates of Manning; two stepdaughters, Carlette Bradham Whiteside (Mike) of Newberry and Ginny Pauling (Jimmy) of Arkansas; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Judy McLeod and Debbie Scott, both of Sumter; three brothers, Joel Yates (Dawn), Bracy Yates (Kathy) and Mike Yates (Patsy), all of Sumter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, George McLeod and George Scott.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Stephens Funeral Home.
