FLORENCE, S.C. (December 20, 2024) – HopeHealth hosted its annual AIDSWalk on Saturday, December 7, on the grounds of the HopeHealth Medical Plaza at 360 North Irby Street in Florence.

Registration began at 9 a.m., and participants received a free AIDSWalk 2024 T-shirt. The event’s program included a moving patient testimony and inspiring words from HopeHealth CEO Carl M. Humphries. The non-competitive awareness walk kicked off at 10 a.m. with participants waving red streamers as a symbol of support for HIV/AIDS patients.

In addition to T-shirts and exciting prize giveaways, attendees enjoyed music by DJ Icey Tay. HopeHealth staff also provided free health screenings and important information on programs and services available at HopeHealth. To conclude the event, participants were provided with a boxed lunch.

Cindy Averitt, manager of volunteer programs, shared, “We were thrilled with the attendance at this year’s AIDSWalk. The event sheds light on the fact that HIV can affect anyone, whether it’s you or a loved one. We need to erase the stigma, talk about prevention, and lean on others to heal from what has been a secret struggle for so many. I am proud that HopeHealth started as an HIV support group and continues to make it a priority.”

AIDSWalk has been hosted by HopeHealth since 1993 and serves to bring awareness about the importance of prevention, treatment, and breaking the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS. HopeHealth provides free rapid HIV screenings, HIV education and awareness, and treatment options, including PrEP and PEP. Call (843) 667-9414 to learn more.
