LEXINGTON — Nine Republican candidates seeking South Carolina’s open U.S. Senate seat are scheduled to participate in a stump event Saturday, Aug. 1, at River Bluff High School.

The U.S. Senate Stump Stop will give voters an opportunity to hear from the candidates ahead of the Aug. 11 special Republican primary. Local high school students will also question the candidates about issues facing South Carolina and the nation.

The South Carolina Republican Party will host the event with Republican gubernatorial nominee Alan Wilson and River Bluff High School’s Lexington One Center for Law and Policy Development.

The candidates are scheduled to speak in the following order:

  • Darline Graham
  • Glenda Gail Parker
  • Russell Fry
  • Mark Sanford
  • Duke Buckner
  • Ralph Norman
  • Mark Lynch
  • Mark McBride
  • Samuel “Sam” Shepherd

The order was determined through a live drawing conducted Friday by the state Republican Party and Republican agriculture commissioner nominee Cody Simpson.

Doors will open to the public at 11 a.m. Candidate speeches and student questions are scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., followed by a grab-and-go lunch and candidate meet-and-greet until 2 p.m.

The event will be held at River Bluff High School, 320 Corley Mill Road in Lexington.
