FireBoss planes demonstrate aerial firefighting at Santee Cooper Airport

FireBoss planes showcased their firefighting capabilities during a fire simulation at Santee Cooper Airport on Tuesday. The demonstration, conducted in partnership with the South Carolina Forestry Commission, involved the planes scooping water from the nearby lake to combat simulated fires.

Pilots Brent Voris and Don Macdonald flew 12 missions throughout the day, each time collecting 800 gallons of water in just 15 seconds. The water was then dropped over the designated area where the fire simulation took place.

“This was a key opportunity to demonstrate the planes’ ability to efficiently tackle fires,” said Nickie Debosky of Precision Air. Forestry Commission Aircraft Group representative Sam Anderson also observed the exercise.

The FireBoss planes are crucial tools in aerial firefighting efforts, designed to quickly refill and respond to large wildfires.
