From the South Carolina Highway Patrol:
"Clarendon County reporting a fatal collision January 21, 2021.
The collision occurred around 12:20 PM and took place on Interstate 95 Southbound, at the 122 mile marker. There are 2 units involved, resulting in one fatality. Unit 1 was a 2013 Honda CR-V. That driver and a front-seat passenger had a seat belt on, and was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. There was a rear-seat passenger that was unrestrained, who was deceased on scene.
Unit 2 was a 2020 Freightliner tractor trailer, the operator was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. Both units 1 and 2 were traveling southbound on Interstate 95.
Unit 2 came to a stop for traffic, Unit 1 unable to stop, ran into the rear of the tractor trailer. This collision remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol."
