Duke Energy proposes price increase

On Dec. 8, 12, and 13, the Public Service Commission of South Carolina hosted a series of in-person public hearings for Duke Energy Progress LLC so citizens could voice their opinions and concerns of the company’s request made in Docket No 2022-254-E. In this application filed with the Commision on Sept. 1, 2022, Duke Energy Process, LLC projected that “a typical residential customer using 1,000 kWh will see an increase of approximately $14.36 per month and if approved, the increase would begin with the new rate on the date of Apr. 1, 2023 as requested. This amount would increase by approximately $4.40 per month in year two. "

On  Jan. 23, the Public Service Commission of South Carolina will host a virtual public hearing for Duke Energy Progress, LLC customers to voice their opinion of the company’s request to increase Electric Rates. The hearing times are from 9 a.m. to 1p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. If there is a need, the hearing will continue on Jan. 4 and 5 at the same scheduled times.

Duke Energy Customers who wish to testify in this hearing may preregister one of three ways:

1. Email communications@psc.sc.gov with their name, telephone number and physical address.

2. Complete a survey at https://dms.psc.sc.gov/Attachments/Matter/141fdd88-f18a-4024-b90d-bd6594552714

3. Call 803-896-2639 and leave a message with their name, telephone number and physical address. Citizens wishing to testify need to be registered by 4 pm on  December 30th . Citizens will be called to testify in the order in which they registered.
