The Duke Energy Foundation awarded a surprise $1,000 grant to Vision by Design to support its Meals on Wheels program, part of a larger initiative to address food insecurity ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. The grant is one of over 50 surprise gifts the foundation is providing this month, totaling more than $500,000 for feeding programs across the region.
“We are forever grateful for the outpouring of love from Duke Energy!” said Kiz Everette, Director of Vision by Design. “Food bank numbers are drastically increasing, so any donations are greatly needed.”
The Vision by Design food bank, located at 206 S. Church St., operates on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and by appointment on Fridays. The grant will bolster the nonprofit’s mission of delivering meals and combating hunger in the community.
Duke Energy’s giving initiative will culminate in additional surprise grant announcements on Giving Tuesday, continuing the company’s commitment to alleviating food insecurity during the holiday season.
