Dargan Ashworth Hodge

Dargan Ashworth Hodge, 95, widower of Mary Caroline Bartlette Hodge, died Friday, December 13, 2019, at his home.

Born January 4, 1924, in Manning, he was a son of the late Elisha Hodge and the late Mildred Lucille Stone Hodge. He was a US Army Air Corps veteran of WWII and a member of American Legion Post 15, VFW #3034, and a life member of Sumter Masonic Lodge #364. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday school / assistant teacher for over 50 years. 

He is survived by his daughter, Marlene Hodge; his son, Keith L. Hodge, both of Manning; six nieces, LaVonne Bailey (Tommy), Connie Cuthbertson (DeWayne), Linda B. Woodcock, Virginia Davis (Billy), Judy Fleming (Roger) and Delores Lancaster; and a number of cousins, great nephews and great nieces.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene Hodge; a brother, John Calvin Hodge; and a sister-in-law, Rosa W. Hodge.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, 2019, at Providence Baptist Church with the Rev. Pat Coffey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Billy L. Davis, Jr., Phillip Woodcock, Eric Hodge, Garrett Hodge, Sammy Harrell and Nick Keely.

Honorary pallbearers will be special friend, Roy Morgan, and the Willing Workers Sunday School class.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2019, at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
