VANDALISM OF PROPERTY
On April 16, 2025 officers responded to an area in Manning close to a school. An officer arrived on scene and observed a black male with a wooden board across the street in the parking lot if the school. The officer was advised by the complainant that the subject was breaking his property and then the subject went across the street and began to damage the vehicles in the school’s parking lot. The officer drove across the street into the parking lot and observed the subject, who was later identified as Jayden Gibson, use the wooden board to break the back windshield of a parked vehicle. The officer drove towards Gibson who then attempted to run. The officer parked his patrol vehicle and ran after Gibson. Gibson stopped running and stated he gave up but he did not stop walking away from the officer. The officer walked towards Gibson while he began to walk back towards the entrance of the parking lot. The officer repeatedly told the subject to remove his hand from his pockets and attempted to get the subject to stop and talk. The officer was able to grab Gibson’s left arm and restrain him until other officers arrived on scene. Backup officers arrived on scene and with their help, Gibson was tackled to the ground and handcuffed to be detained. Gibson was then placed under arrest and transported to Clarendon County Detention Center. The first officer on scene spoke with the complainant who stated that the subject, who is his son, came home earlier that day in a bad mood and was highly upset due to speaking with his parole officer the previous day. The complainant stated that the subject exited the house and grabbed a nearby board and began hitting the complainant’s vehicle. The complainant stated that his vehicle was dented and his tail lights were out. He stated that Gibson then went to the right side of the residence and smashed the three side windows and the window of the shed in the back yard. The complainant stated that Gibson then went across the street before officers arrived on scene. The complainant was advised that all damages would be documented in an incident report. The complainant stated that he did not want to press charges. The officer observed a black Mercedes parked at the front of the parking lot that was found to belong to the complainant. The officer observed the front headlights of the vehicle were destroyed by Gibson before the officer arrived. The officer also observed a grey/silver Buick Envision parked further down from the entrance of the parking lot that was found to belong to the complainant. The officer had observed the subject break the back windshield out and the tail lights when he was approaching the scene. The officer also observed a Honda Odyssey parked beside the grey Buick in the parking lot. He had also seen Gibson break the back windshield of this vehicle when he was approaching. All interactions were recorded on officer body cameras. All officers cleared the scene without further incident.
