On Thursday evening, the courthouse lawn in Manning became a hub for community members, advocates, and organizations gathering to honor those impacted by domestic violence and to increase awareness of the resources available in Clarendon County. Hosted by Manning Mayor Julia Nelson, the Domestic Violence Awareness & Community Resource Fair aimed to foster understanding and provide support for survivors and their families.

The event, held at 5:30 p.m. on October 24, brought together key agencies from the region, including the Manning Victim Advocate, the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office Victims Advocate, the Clarendon County Department of Social Services, the Guardian ad Litem program, the Clarendon School District, and the YWCA Upper Lowlands, Inc. Each organization offered resources tailored to individuals and families affected by domestic violence, from legal guidance to social and educational support.

Focused on both recognition and response, the fair underscored the community’s commitment to assisting survivors of domestic violence. Agencies presented information on local support systems, including emergency assistance, housing services, counseling options, and legal pathways. Through this collaborative event, representatives shared ways the community can address domestic violence and better assist individuals seeking safe environments and pathways to recovery.

With numerous attendees showing support, the event highlighted Clarendon County’s dedication to fostering awareness, providing resources, and working toward a safer, more responsive community for those affected by domestic violence. The fair provided a valuable opportunity for survivors and their families to connect with essential resources and local advocates focused on creating a supportive network across the county.
