Community to hold candle-light vigil for missing teen; organizing search party to sweep larger area

Posted

A small community in Sumter County has been looking for 18 year old Jackson Brent Garcia since December 26, 2020.

Garcia was last seen them at a relative’s home on Ithica Drive. He was wearing light gray sweatpants, black and white sneakers, and a dark colored jacket. Jackson does have a history of mental illness and is not on medication at this time.

The community has banded together to sweep areas throughout Sumter, Lee, Clarendon, and Florence Counties, and are continuing their search this Saturday, January 16. Before the search, they will hold a candlelight vigil to pray for Garcia’s return, and are inviting people from Sumter, Clarendon, and surrounding counties to join them.

They also ask that any citizens who want to join them in their search to come, or search Jackson “Brent” Garcia on Facebook.

Any local businesses who would like to donate anything to help bring Garcia back home are also invited to do so.

Anyone with information, or if you see Garcia, please call 911 or the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office at (803) 436-2000, or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
