Clarendon County and Manning native W.R. Cody Simpson III received his 32nd-degree of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of the Supreme Council of the Southern Jurisdiction of the USA by the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Orient of South Carolina.

He received the recognition Wednesday when he was knighted by the Knights of Saint Andrews at the Fall Reunion at the Valley of Columbia Scottish Rite Center.

As part of the organization, Simpson vowed to support its mission of providing professional speech and language therapy to children diagnosed with communication disorders. It’s a mission the organization has maintained since its inception in the 1950s.

These centers are staffed by licensed and certified speech and language pathologists.

Simpson is a mason with the Hampton Lodge No. 204 in Florence. He works for Francis Marion University as its development coordinator, while still helping his family’s farm in the Home Branch community.
