The Clarendon Hall Saints Varsity Softball team was recognized at the South Carolina State House on Wednesday for their historic third consecutive SCISA 2A state championship. The team, coaches, and school leadership were welcomed by Representative Fawn Pedalino and other legislators in honor of their remarkable achievement.
Pedalino commended the Saints for their resilience, teamwork, and the lasting impact they have made on their school and community.
“It was an honor to welcome the Clarendon Hall Varsity Girls Softball Team to the South Carolina Statehouse in recognition of their outstanding achievement—winning their third SCISA State Championship,” Pedalino said. “Their dedication, teamwork, and perseverance have brought pride not only to their school but to our entire community.”
The House passed a resolution congratulating the team on their championship win, highlighting their determination throughout the season. Led by Head Coach Jeffrey Bays, the Saints secured the title on May 15, 2024, with a 3-2 victory over Colleton Prep in the deciding game of the best-of-three series. The championship capped off a dominant season, with the Saints finishing 19-4.
Clarendon Hall Headmaster Russ Jordan expressed immense pride in the program’s continued success.
“Clarendon Hall is certainly proud of the accomplishments of our Varsity Softball program. We have a dedicated group of student-athletes, parents, and coaches that have made back-to-back-to-back state championships possible,” Jordan said. “The most interesting part about winning three state championships in a row is acknowledging all of the hard work that went into preparing these girls from a young age onward. I commend their parents, former coaches, and their current coaches for preparing these girls and helping them get in a position to be as successful as they are.”
The Saints’ success is a testament to the discipline and dedication instilled in the team by their coaching staff. The championship roster featured standout performances, including key contributions from senior pitcher Colleen McIntosh and junior Calli Yount, who combined efforts on the mound to secure the title.
As the Saints celebrated their latest championship, the recognition at the State House served as a reminder of the hard work and commitment that fueled their three-peat. With a strong core of players returning next season, the team hopes to continue building on its winning tradition.
Pedalino praised not only the players but also the families, coaches, and supporters who contributed to the team’s journey.
“Winning a state championship is no small feat, and securing three titles speaks volumes about their commitment to excellence both on and off the field,” Pedalino said. “These young women exemplify the values of hard work, determination, and sportsmanship, and I have no doubt they will continue to accomplish great things.”
