Posted

Clarendon Hall defended home field Friday night against the King's Academy Lions. Junior running back Darius Aiken carried the ball 17 times for 239 yards, and two touchdowns. Junior quarterback Brock Mathis tallied two rushing touchdowns, as well as a 34-yard passing touchdown to junior wide receiver Kole Elliot. Sophomore defensive back Griffin McIntosh got in on the scoring with a 44-yard interception return. When asked what has contributed to his teams recent winning streak, Coach Logan said, "We have had success running the football. We are a power running team that wants to run right at you."

Coach Logan's defense has also found their groove lately, holding their opponents to an average of 8 points per game.

Logan said, "We have really settled in. Making the jump from 8 to 11 men was an adjustment during the first game. We made some adjustments to put them in a better position to succeed and the players have stepped up. Our defense has put us in some great spots as of late."

This Friday, Coach Logan and the Clarendon Hall Saints look to continue their winning streak as they travel to face a fiesty Patrick Henry team.

Logan said, "They are a very well coached, physical, old-school team that is going to line up, and run it at you. We have to find a way to stop their run game in order to be succesful. Offensively we will have to get their front 5 blocked to have a chance. They are big and powereful up front, so we will have to rely on our speed to move the ball."
